beauty becomes her house of tara bronzer

It’s ironic really, I’m a semi-reformed beauty junkie (I like to think, I may be wrong?) but I rarely make an effort on the day to day. I like to tell myself that it’s because I’m really busy – but honestly I think I just can’t be arsed. Again – something I’m trying to change! As I age (drat!) I have to be a little more realistic about what looks cute and what doesn’t.

I’ve kind of always hated foundation, too heavy, I perspire like a camel and sweat and foundation do not mix. Literally. I usually end up with half of it off and the other half dried awkwardly on my face. So I reserve the heavy trappings for events/ night time when such mishaps are less discernible.

In the interminable heat I usually opt for my Maybelline BB Cream but they’ve been falling my hand lately – the dark version is much lighter than it was before and now I kind of look sickly when I use it. Enter the amazing medium coverage foundation from House of Tara. Nigerian beauty brands are having such a moment right now!

House of Tara Flawless Foundation

Even if I can’t use it everyday (still foundation averse) it’s so delightfully light I can use it in a pinch and not feel like I’m wearing a mask. For night I, typically just ‘build’ (Learnt that from the uber fabulous Shade – MUA extraordinaire (MINE) for when I need face armor. More on that later.

Elie Saab For The Win

I’m obsessed with this Elie Saab perfume. The end. It’s an eau de parfum (Present). I never buy perfume and I’m already wondering what I’LL DO WHEN I RUN OUT! I got it with the shower gel – that’s strictly for super grown and sexy days.

Lipsticks Galore!

My lips are one of my favourite feature and I like to treat my tricks so …

TARA JANKARA TEJUOSO LIPSTICK

Yes. I’m aware I will never wear some of these shades. But I like to hope. I’m coming down from my Jankara high, but Jankara/Arese/Tejuoso are in constant rotation at the moment. I’ll typically cheat with lipstick, finishing powder and a (wonky) winged liner. I always end up looking like Cleopatra.

PS: I picked up all this at a recent makeup party hosted by my dear friend and HOT brand manager Temi Akingbe. Champagne Canapes and Makeup. My. Kinda. Party

I WISH they sold that Tara BB Cream in Jamaica! I suffer from cystic acne but now that Im on a new regiment to control it I prefer to wear something much lighter than an actual foundation but the bb creams on the market now are so BLEH! Hopefully will stumble upon something like this Tara one soon!

P.S anything from Elie Saab is a gift from the heavens! lol

I am not heavy into makeup at all. My routine is tightline, mascara, chapstick, and GO but I absolutely LOVE seeing my Nigerian sisters looking flawless with all of their fabulous looks. It inspires me to want to try more makeup but I haven’t pulled the trigger just yet. Ah well, maybe someday!

Oooh this looks great and it’s so nice to see different brands right now…have you tried Iman Cosmetics? A really wonderful brand with such a variety….maybe there’s something there that you’ll like too!

It’s always love though to see products from other places – I always love finding out about new brands so if there’s more than you use…please post! 😀

Love the lipstick shades too….all beautiful – a girl can never have too many xxx

The earrings look marvelous. Have you tried mineral foundations. It stays on even if you sweat and it’s very lightweight and they have hundreds of shades 😀
