How To Wear Statement Earrings Without Looking OTT
Next to statement necklaces, statement earrings are one of my very favorite things to collect. I’m definitely of the ‘more is more’ school of styling.I particularly love earrings because the right pair can transform virtually any outfit from an LBD to jeans into a polished and sophisticated look.
The statement earring is a definitive party (or if you’re a magpie like me – EVERYDAY) staple, yet it can propose a style challenge for people who aren’t about this more is more life! So, how do you wear them without looking overdone?

Stick to classic shapes and interesting details with your clothes that complement the earrings. Make them the hero piece and keep everything else simple to let them have their moment.
I like pairing real ‘doorknockers’ with a strapless or off the shoulder silhouette to really frame your face. For maximum impact I also like to pull my hair back; or alternatively a short, messy bob paired with understated makeup.
Sometimes there is really nothing like upping the ante on a super casual look with SERIOUS jewellery. I’m not really a jeans and tee girl, but sometimes when I feel that way inclined, I throw on a statement piece or two to bring that extra dose of glam.
And the most important tip? Don’t forget to keep your makeup as simple as possible – eyes or lips. There’s OTT glam and then there’s just garish.
Easy Does It
For nighttime, when wearing dangly statement earrings, I prefer to keep my hair sleek and not too big. A chic chignon is a good answer. The key is to keep it simple and either work your outfit around one big eye-catching piece, or to work well-coordinated statement accessories into your look by striking the right balance. I up the ante on the makeup for a nighttime vibe
So what do you guys think? How do you wear your statement jewelry?
