“My definition of beauty is strength and personality. Strength is captivating…. The dignity of these women with their innate elegance is a true inspiration of beauty.”
― Diane von Furstenberg
ICYMI – The AMVCA’s are kind of a big deal in these parts. A night of recognition for pan-African cinema by the viewers and their peers. i get invited every year and it’s always an amazing event.
This year, I decided to do a ‘Get Ready With Me’ post because a) I
almost always skip the red carpet and b) It’s too dark in the main room to really get a decent photo. Besides I thought it would be fun!
So here goes nothing – the photos were taken at my sister’s ( I also did some judicious ‘borrowing’ from her but shhh! don’t tell) 😉
My other sister Arierhi Lucciano- Gabriel was my handbag for the night lol. I dragged her kicking and screaming but like I said, it was fun in the end!
Decisions, decisions …
What I’m Wearing
Maybelline Baby Lips Lipbalm
Malée Verdure Eau de Parfum
What I Decided Against Wearing
Topshop Embellished Minaudiere. Try this
Zara Necklace. Try this
DIY Cherry Blossom Headband. This is also pretty good.
I went a little dressed down, reason being it would seem a little strange if I wore a super fancy frock when it wasn’t really MY industry. WHAT WAS I THINKING? lol. I must remember my OTT self should always, always win. Next year I guess!
Did anyone watch/follow the AMVCA’s ? Nollywood BROUGHT it this year, best red carpet yet I think, bar some noticeable disappointments, it was awesome. The ‘New School’ especially. What did you guys think?
