Designer Heels- Two beautiful words. As I’ve said before, I’m a shoe girl. No amount of reminding myself that I am indeed a girl and not a centipede has motivated me to stop buying shoes or planning to buy shoes. This is not helped by the ever-growing list of amazing shoe designers.
I love Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik as much as the next girl. Maybe more. I drool over Jimmy Choo and Giuseppe Zanotti because I am a mere mortal with a serious shoe addiction. Sue me.
Lately however, I’ve been caught cheating. It’s not my fault. Really. What is a girl to do when faced with the glorious craftsmanship that is Gianvito Rossi? Cave, that’s what. Fall madly and shamelessly in love. But above and beyond this nascent affair, there’ve been some newcomers and rekindled flames in my life. I have found myself thinking about those shoe designers that are not as well-known but are equally as talented in my opinion.
First up is Alexandre Birman. I have one glorious pair of shoes by this genius, worn on my 21st birthday and I absolutely adore them. This Brazilian maestro works mainly with exotic skins (a particular weakness of mine). Here is an example of his genius. I encourage you to head on over to Harvey Nichols to see his other goodies.
Alejandro Ingelmo is another hero! This Cuban-American darling has the most amazing sculptural heels. There is a sharpness to his designs that I adore.
Last but most decidedly not the least is Chelsea Paris. The following beast of a shoe is just one example of the sheer beauty Nigerian designer Theresa Ebagua serves up. Discovering the little tid bit that she’s from Edo State (where i’m from- smiles!) was just icing on the cake! A main of national pride with a side of regional pride to go!
Obsessed as I am? Of course you are! So, any contributions to my lust list? Know any unsung heroes? Lemme know.
